A Custom Type is a Post Type you define in WordPress. These Custom Post Types offer’s you the flexibility & ease to manage the content.
By default WordPress comes with five major post types
If you want more It’s easy.It can be done done via the register_post_type function. This function allows you to define the post type and how it operates within WordPress.
Today I have created a new Custom post type & had populated test data into it,but to my horror I only see 404 error message when I access any of the custom post types.
Step’s to Resolve 404 Errors with custom Post Types :
Below are the simple steps to follow.
- Login to your WordPress Admin Panel.
- Go to Settings > Permalinks.
- Change your permalink structure to different one than you have currently.
- Click Save.
- Change Back your permalink structure to your preferred setting
Disabling permalinks & re-enabling them will flush the rewrite rules & will resolve 404 error message with custom post types.
