404 Errors with WordPress Custom Post Types

A Custom Type is a Post Type you define in WordPress.These Custom Post Types offer’s you the flexibility & ease to manage the content.

By default WordPress comes with five major post types

        1. Post
        2. Pages
        3. Attachment
        4. Revision
        5. Nav_menu_item

If you want more It’s easy.It can be done done via the register_post_type function. This function allows you to define the post type and how it operates within WordPress.

Today I have created a new Custom post type & had populated test data into it,but to my horror I only see 404 error message when I access any of the custom post types.

Step’s to Resolve 404 Errors with custom Post Types :

Below are the simple steps to follow.

  1. Login to your WordPress Admin Panel.
  2. Go to Settings > Permalinks.
  3. Change your permalink structure to different one than you have currently.
  4. Click Save.
  5. Change Back your permalink structure to your preferred setting

Disabling permalinks & re-enabling them will flush the rewrite rules & will resolve 404 error message with custom post types.
