London Olympics Table Tennis Google Doodle 2012

On the Sixth day of the London 2012 Olympics, Google posted a new sport-specific doodle dedicated to Table Tennis, also known as ping-pong.

The captivating doodle features two table tennis players playing against each other, of the two players one is right handed & the other is left handed.We can see the Letters Go_GLE written on the Net while the other letter ‘O’ is formed with the help of a player’s table tennis racket.

Brief History of Table Tennis : The game commonly known as “ding-dong” was first developed by British military officers in India or South Africa .Table tennis is controlled by the worldwide organization International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), founded in 1926. ITTF currently includes 217 member associations.Since 1988, table tennis has been an Olympic sport,with several event categories. In particular, from 1988 until 2004, these were: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles. Since 2008 the doubles have been replaced by the team events.
