As you all know our Blog is powered by WordPress/Genesis & there are lot of other webmasters who build their WordPress website with the power of Genesis.
Today we had upgraded to the latest version of Genesis, after seeing an official announcement from “Brian Gardner” of StudioPress.
Starting with Genesis 1.9, the default look for Genesis has been updated. The style sheet has been condensed and completely rewritten, with an emphasis on flexibility for mobile responsive design.

Google Author Highlights :
Genesis now offers support for author highlighting. This allows Google to associate your content with your Google+ profile.
Updated Security Audit :
StudioPress want’s no unwanted security hiccups for it’s customers, so they hired WordPress Lead Developer Mark Jaquith to perform a full review of code for security.

It’s clear StudioPress made security a priority when developing Genesis and from a security standpoint, Genesis 1.9 is at the top of its class.
“eNews & Updates” and “Latest Tweets” widgets are Deprecated starting with Genesis 1.9 & they are ported to WordPress plugins.You can download them from the below links.
Genesis Category/Page Menu Widgets Removed
They have also deprecated the Category and Page menu widgets a few releases ago, and as of this release, they’ve completely removed them from the framework.
If you were still using either of these widgets, you will notice that your menu is no longer showing.
You will need to build a custom menu and add the custom menu widget to the Header Right widget area.
If you have automatic updater in place you will see a notification saying that latest version of Genesis Framework is available.
- Click “upgrade now” link at the top your WordPress Admin dashboard page.
- Click to confirm the upgrade.
- All done!
StudioPress Team started working on Genesis 2.0 & they have big plans for a new markup structure in Genesis 2.0, all built with HTML5. You will have the ability to turn on HTML5 support with a simple function through your child theme.
StudioPress Genesis 2.0 is expected to release during Spring/Summer 2013.
